BFJN welcomes Honduran environmental leader for Stand Against Poverty
NY Faith & Justice launch
A little over a week ago, I was at Hostos College in the Bronx watching the launch of NY Faith & Justice. NY Faith & Justice started when a small group of Christians met each other at the Sojourners conference in 2006. They began to meet regularly and develop a plan Christians pursuing justice in the city of New York. Sound familiar?
I left the launch enlivened by the time of worship and inspired by NY Faith & Justice’s vision (which was inspired by Isaiah 61): “a New York where resources are shared and just policies are practiced because God’s people are no longer dependent on the dollar – they are oaks of righteousness -dependent on God alone.”
Leaders from the BFJN and NY Faith & Justice have been connected since the beginning and we see ourselves as sister organizations – seeds of a larger movement of Christians pursuing social justice as an expression of faith. Please pray for the faith and vitality of our brothers and sisters in New York.
