Grateful Living
Many of us have lost track of how much is enough. We buy more than we need. We make promises to buy less, but these promises are hard to keep. The BFJN organizes small groups in which people support each other in spending less, buying justly, and giving collectively. It all begins with a spirit of gratitude.

BFJN small groups are currently using a study called Lazarus at the Gate, which was created by Gary VanderPol, an Evangelical Covenant pastor and ThD candidate at Boston University. The title Lazarus at the Gate comes from a story that Jesus told about Lazarus – a poor man who lay, day after day, at the gate of a very rich man. In our modern world, in which half the world’s people live on less than $2 a day, globalization has placed many Lazarus’ at our gate. As residents of the world’s wealthiest nation, how is God calling us to live gratefully?
